Cinema, Television as well as any form of audiovisual content have become part of our Culture. Through the audiovisual contents, the history of the contemporary society is testified. It is our past, not to be forgotten! Watching these works helps us to learn our past and to be able to face our future.
However, this huge Cultural heritage, produced in more than 100 years, needs to be preserved, restored, digitalized, catalogued and identified. ISAN, as the unique global audiovisual identifier, brings a valuable contribution to keep alive our worldwide audiovisual heritage by improving the cataloguing, discovery, exchange of information and exploitation of legacy content. The accurate identification of content in the ISAN registry also helps to prevent works from being future orphan works(i.e. without known rights holder) and therefore maintain their exploitation and availability to a vast public over the time.
To contribute to keep our audiovisual heritage alive, ISAN joins relevant actions intending to preserve this heritage.
