ISO 15706 was prepared within ISO Technical Committee (TC) 46, Subcommittee (SC) 9 which is responsible for ISO International Standards for the identification and description of information resources.

The ISAN standard was published in November 2002 as International Standard ISO 15706, after being approved by 100% of the ISO members who voted on the final text.

Copies of ISO 15706 are available for purchase, in separate English and French editions, from the ISO and its national member organizations.
