- Audiovisual work
A work consisting of a sequence of related images with or without accompanying sound, which is intended to be made visible as a moving image and/or audible through the use of devices, regardless of the medium of initial or subsequent fixation.
- Serial Audiovisual work
An audiovisual work produced in individual episodes or parts which bear a relationship to each other and, usually a common title for the whole series.
- Reader
A reader is a client of a Registration Agency with the purpose of consultation of the central ISAN repository for identification or inventory management.
- Registrant
Producer of an audiovisual work, authorized proxy of such producer, or other such entity or individual, registered with a designated ISAN registration agency for the purposes of obtaining ISAN for audiovisual works.
- Registration Agency (RA)
Agency appointed by the International Agency for the purposes of assigning ISAN to registrants.
- Master Negative
After the shooting, selected scenes are kept by the director and developed to positives by the lab. The editing is done on the positive films while the lab keeps the original negatives.
Once the editing finished, the lab assembles the original negatives to match the edited positive film using edge numbers.
This assembly is called the "master negative" or the "neg(ative) conform".
- Internegative
A duplicating film stock that turn into negative when printed from a positive print. Used to make opticals, titles and as a source for making interpositive prints. Can be cut into the original cut negative. Also called Dupe Negative.
- Interpositive
A positive print made from an internegative on special film stock. Often preferred for telecine mastering and as a protection element so original negatives can be stored and not used.
